Save A Pet was founded by Gertrude Maxwell on Aug 28, 1972. In the past 46 years, we have saved the lives of over 80,000 animals. Our cats & dogs are placed in foster homes for socialization with people & other animals. Once vetted & confirmed as disease-free, they are allowed to roam their foster home and interact with the other pets in the home.
The majority of our dogs are rescued from high kill facilities and many of the dogs are injured or sick when we take them into our care. Most of them were found as strays. Some require extensive medical care & several months of healing. Our job is to provide them a safe environment where they can heal, receive love & learn to trust humans again.
Our foster/adoption program is just one of our missions. We also provide TNR (trap/neuter/return) service for feral cats in the Jupiter, Tequesta, Palm Beach Gardens, FL areas. We provide food to caregivers of the feral cat colonies we have sterilized. We provide funds for emergency veterinary care of domestic pets for financially challenged individuals (must complete an application & phone interview to qualify).
Volunteers are needed in the following areas: Social media & marketing, fundraising, fostering cats or dogs, weekend adoptions at Jupiter Petco, TNR.
