The Pit Stop Rescue

Dog rescue in St. Francisville, LA

The Pit Stop Rescue is a Non-Profit Organization which was started on December 27, 2011. We are An official 501c3. We were originally volunteers with American Pit Bull Terrier Rescue and decided that we were going to start our own rescue as APBT Rescue was closing. We wanted to carry on our passion for promoting positive pitbull awareness and adoptions.

Additional adoption info

The Pit Stop adoption process:
You will first need to complete a Pre-Adoption Application. Once you have returned the application, we will review it and send it back to you with any questions/concerns that we may have. If all checks out, you will be approved.
One approved, we will come out to your home for a home visit and bring the dog(s) that you are interested in adopting or dog(s) that we believe would be a perfect fit for you and your family.
Once the home check is complete and approved, we will offer to have the dog you are interested in stay with you for a few days to make sure everything works out. If everything works out, you are ready to adopt!
During the adoption, there will be a contract that will be signed, one copy for adopter & one copy for the rescue. We will provide you with all current vet records. In the contract, you agree to not neglect the dog, not tie up the dog, keep dog current on vaccination & you agree to allow your vet to release all records to the rescue as we will follow up. We will do un-scheduled home visits to check to make sure the dog is being taken care of. In the contract, you will agree to update us on change of address/phone number and keep us current with happy trails and pictures.
