Bluegrass Shih Tzu Rescue, Inc is a 501c3 non-profit. BGSTR was founded January 1,2000 by Donna Hall-Turner, Director. We have rescued between 2000-3000 shih tzu, shih mixes and other small homeless dogs. We are a small rescue, which needs volunteers, especially foster homes. We require the foster homes to be located in KY. This is so we are close enough to help each other out, in different situations. BGSTR is always in need of donations, which are tax deductible, for the care of the rescue dog.

Additional adoption info
BGSTR adoption process begins with an adoption application. Three references are required. Please understand all members are volunteers. Also, please understand it may take a few days to return emails or calls. A home visit will be conducted prior to any placements. An adoption fee will be required. The fee is based on the age of the dog. The fee goes toward the vetting bills, grooming, food, and any items needed for the rescue dogs. After completing the above process and upon approval, an adoption contract will be required to sign by both the adopted parents as well as a member of BGSTR. If for any reason, the adopted dog cannot be kept in the "forever" home, the dog must be returned to BGSTR.
