We are a very small group of volunteers who have made it our mission to find loving suitable homes for (otherwise) displaced, abandoned, or stray golden, labrador retrievers and goldenl/lab mixes with our partners in the south.
When possible we have New England based fosters - those dogs are marked with NOW IN......
If they are not it means they ARE in a foster home, owever it is in the South. Approved adopters can speak to the foster parents AT LENGTH before determining if the match is a good one.
The dogs have either been relinquished by their owners, found as strays, or abandoned at the shelter door. It is irrelevant to us how they have managed to find themselves at these kill shelters in these circumstances. It is only in their best interest that we try in earnest to get them out.
All of our volunteers have been involved in the rescue and placing of dogs for years. All of our volunteers have worked with reputable rescues in the past. We are committed to doing our part in decreasing the numbers of goldens and golden mixes put down at southern shelters. We also occasionally will have locally turned in dogs from Vermont.

Additional adoption info
While pursuing to adopt a Golden Huggs dog, we ask that you understand there is a process that must be followed. Every adoption application must be completely filled out. Once a completed application has been sent back to us, it is then brought before our review board for approval. Every Rescue has rules and regulations regarding adoptions.
If you are uncertain with any of ours please do not hesitate to ask questions. Please carefully read the application for additional important information about the adoption process.
All of our adoptable dogs are vetted prior to adoption. They all have been spayed or neutered. All dogs are up to date (UTD) on their shots, inoculations, and vaccines. They all have been tested for heartworm, if found positive, they are treated; if found negative, they are started on a preventative.
Veterinarians give all the dogs complete examinations. The dogs often do not come with any history. Therefore, the veterinarians that examine these dogs try their best to estimate age. If there are any obvious medical conditions to see or feel, they will be treated at that time. It is our goal that through our adoption process and our home visits, that we will be able to determine and help select the most suitable dog for each individual family
