We are small fostering network rescue group, but with BIG hearts that are working hard to make an impact for the wellbeing of the animals in Central Louisiana! This means that we DO NOT have an actual physical shelter to house our rescues.
We have several very kind and generous Veterinarians who will help the animals when they can.
We work to rescue abandoned and unwanted animals, obtaining necessary veterinary care and placing them in loving, responsible homes. We place our animals either already spayed or on a spay/neuter contract which we follow up on.
We do most of our screening by phone or in person. We obtain Veterinarian References to help us to evaluate the prospective adoptive families. We are able to obtain Home Visits prior to adoptive placement almost anywhere in the country with the aid of a vast interconnected network of rescue workers across the US. This helps us place the pets in the most wonderful and best *FOREVER* home available.
All our workers are Volunteers. No one gets paid for their work, their time, their gas or the food they feed the animals... Approximately 95% of our income from adoptive placements, fund raisers, and coin jars, etc. goes directly to vet care or general meds . HSCL, as an organization, has learned to be very frugal. Our volunteers, as individuals, have learned to be VERY, VERY generous with their time, money and supplies. If you make a donation to HSCL, you can be sure your money goes to the care of the animals and supports getting them adopted!
So if you would like to help volunteer by fostering, walking, socializing, or help with donations, office work or fundraising or ANYTHING you can do for the sake of the animals! We will gladly accept any and everything that you are willing to do for these wonderful "forgotten pets"! Anything at all is appreciated and will be put to good use. EVERY BIT COUNTS!
