One Good Dog

Dog rescue in Nokomis, FL

Our name says it all. "One Good Dog" is truly about one dog. We are a tiny rescue group, just my husband and myself, our two gorgeous rescued Aussies and a couple of rescued cats. We are trying to simply make a difference "one dog at a time". We will generally only have one or two dogs at a time, unless it is a litter of rescued puppies. Each dog tugs at my heart in some way, a very very strong way. They come from high kill shelters or equally tough circumstances and are generally without options. They may be sick and in need of special care. They will often not be the youngest or cutest dogs, but surely worthy of a good life. Because they are here with us we have the time to truly understand them and to work at placing them in the perfect home. This is a very happy and stress free environment for all our animals and that makes for a very healing environment for these deserving dogs. They leave here happy, healthy and ready for their new life. We may not be large, and we may not be able to save alot of dogs each year, but to each of those that we do save and to their lucky adopters, it makes all the difference in the world.

Located in SW Florida, Sarasota County. We will work with anyone willing to come and meet our rescue dogs. If it seems an appropriate match we can work on transport without a meeting if both parties feel confident it will be a forever adoption.

Additional adoption info

We rely on communication through e-mail and by telephone to determine if the dog/dogs we have would be a good fit with you and your family. We do not require a formal application. We would then schedule a meeting. We will be very prompt at answering any inquiries.

If you adopt ,we do have an adoption contract.

Our fees are based on the cost of the dog's vetting, Generally very reasonable.
