Happy Healthy Pet Adoption

Dog shelter in Bay Springs, MS

We decided that something had to be done about the huge amount of stray animals in the Jasper County area. We formed a non-profit organization and began taking in dogs and cats. We later got a lawyer to do the paperwork so that we could be a 501c3 tax exempt organization.There are four unpaid volunteers who run the shelter. We pay some young people to come in and clean up. We receive donations from the public and charge a small surrender fee to bring in dogs. We have a small trailer for the office and some pens in back for the dogs and pups. Some of the pens are cemented and some are very large outside pens. We are next door to a vet and use her services regularly. We have college volunteers that come and work with the puppies and dogs each week. We are dedicated to our calling and have been doing this for several years.

Additional adoption info

We have a form that the adoptive person fills out, the fee is $75.00 for a dog under a year old and $50.00 for older dogs. They are required to have a fenced yard or they agree to keep the animal in the house. They are urged to do regular vet visit and give heartworm prevention once a month.
