We serve a 20 mile radius of the NW Chicagoland Area. No exceptions please. This is due to our commitment to provide after care for any behavior issues that may arise. We must also have access to good vet services to keep the animal healthy as it waits for you to find it. Our shows on Saturdays play a vital role in finding a great home, so we want to keep our Team Members close to our shows each week. Go to www.foster2home.org to find out more about our special group. We can be found at Petsmart in the Randhurst Mall, Mt. Prospect every Saturday from 11am -2pm. The address is 101 E. Euclild Ave., Mt. Prospect, IL. Check out Facebook Page (foster2home) or website at www.foster2homeinc.org for special weekend events! Hope to see you soon.
Additional adoption info
To begin the process, you may meet them at our shows every other Saturday. Here is the web site for our schedule - www.foster2home.org.
You must reside within 20 miles of Arlington Heights.IL. Please note we do not allow adoptions to homes with balconies or electric fencing.
Please read the guidelines to adopt above the application. This is important for the safety of the dog. You may then fill out the form, the foster parent will contact you should there be any questions you may have. If all the information found on the form is accurate and the meeting goes well, we then call your vet and friends you provide for references. (please tell them in advance, we will be calling). If all agree this is a good match we will schedule a home visit for safety purposes. It is after this we will make a determination, if it is indeed the right match for you. Your Foster mom or dad will call you to set up an adoption day. Please understand we do not "hold" dogs. All adoptions take place at our shows on Saturdays. An adoption contract, training certificate and if needed a spay/neuter form and microchip form will be filled out by you at that time. We will answer all your questions and help you get started by giving you the coupon booklet. Each dog will get an adoption folder complete with copies of the contract, microchip information and all the medical information you will need to take to your vet. Our dogs are considered completely vetted and full disclosure of all known health history is given at the time of adoption. Young puppies that need more puppy shots are covered by you after the adoption. Puppies will not be spayed or neutered until 5-6 months of age and also given a rabies vaccine at one of our network doctors. This is all part of our cost. We will have a paper for the vet to sign to prove the procedure is done. Please fax this back to Foster 2 Home at 847-632-0370. If we do not get this back we will call you. All dogs under the age of 2 are considered puppies. You are responsible to sign them up for a manners course. It will make the transition easier and the bond more complete. We can recommend many affordable family friendly trainers in you area. All dogs, with the exception of the puppies are adopted out "as is" on the adoption day. We are not responsible for any conditions after the adoption. An example of this is, Heartworm. We test all, if of age, for this serious disease. However, if the medicine is not given correctly, or on time each month, they may come down with this. It is expensive to treat so be vigilant when making a 'Hello" visit to your doctor soon after adoption. Ask advice on the correct way to vaccinate for this deadly disease. All of us know, having a dog can be expensive, so keep this in mind and be certain to schedule yearly visits to keep it healthy. Most dogs can cost between 800.00 to $1,000.00 when all is considered. Something to keep in mind when adopting. Our costs to vet the dogs are less, thanks to the dedication of our Veterinary Network Doctors. It is because of their love of helping rescued dogs we can offer a fully vetted dog to you at a lower cost.
Please keep in mind we are an all volunteer rescue, we do this for the love of the homeless dogs, so your patience is greatly appreciated.
You may apply at www.foster2home.org. Applications under the Available Dogs tab. Guidelines, Restrictions and Process are also on this tab to see.
Thank you for caring about the voiceless babies we work so hard to help.
