Mureille’s Place is a small home-based 501c3 rescue. We are a cage-free no-kill facility that provides a safe haven for unwanted senior dogs until they can be adopted into a forever home or if unadoptable, live out their remaining days with love, dignity and respect. The sanctuary is located on 7 wooded acres that include several walking trails that the dogs enjoy year round. We are very proud that we are an all volunteer rescue and do not have any paid staff or board members and that all tax deductible donations go to the rescue operation.

PA primarily but we will, and have in the past, taken in senior dogs from anywhere if we have room. On a rare occasion, we will do out of state adoptions, but prefer to adopt out locally. We prefer local adoptions so that we may perform a home check before the adoptipn and so that we can check in on the dog from time to time after adoption. Also, if the dog needs to come back to our rescue, a local adoption ensures that it is not too far to travel to get him/her.
Additional adoption info
Our adoption process includes a pre-adoption interview to determine the type of home you will provide and will aid us in finding the right dog for you. We prefer that the dog do a “weekend” visit or longer before adopting to ensure that both the adopter and the dog are sure that it is a good match. There is an application to be filled out, a home visit and adoption donation typically from $50 - $150. All dogs are spayed or neutered and are up to date on all shots. We also require adopters to have a fenced in yard and prefer home owners over renters.
We have also launched our "Seniors for Seniors" program where we do not charge a fee at all to qualifying senior citizens who adopt one of our seniors.
We are also working on a program that would allow a senior to adopt one of our seniors and we would take care of food, vet visits etc and be a place for the dog to come back to if the adopter had health issues and needed to be hospitalized or worse, passed away and there were no family members to take the dog in. This would greatly benefit seniors on a fixed income who want to own a dog but can't provide for them or are afraid that they will not outlive the dog. We are searching for funding for this program and will launch it as soon as that funding is found.
