We are a registered Iowa Non-Profit Corporation which operates a rescue of stray, abandoned and neglected dogs and cats. MCAR also holds 501C3 status as a sub-entity of the Red Oak Heritage Foundation (501C3) an approved community foundation. We are an all volunteer organization
The Montgomery County Animal Rescue was established in 2001 by a group of concerned local citizens. Since 2001, we have facilitated hundreds of adoptions in our area and throughout the country. Although we are limited on space, none of our adoptable animals are euthanized. MCAR works with other local and regional rescues and shelters so that many other animals have another chance at a loving home.
All animals are altered, vaccinated and micro-chipped prior to adoption. We receive no monies from city, county, state or federal agencies. MCAR is solely supported from donations by individuals, trusts, memorials and adoption fees.
We continue to sponsor reduced-cost rabies vaccination and micro-chip clinics, and have provided financial assistance to qualified applicants to defray the cost of spaying and neutering pets.
