Rescue FAQs

We are an all foster home based rescue, we do not have a facility where we house the dogs. All dogs are fully vetted prior to adoption. We have an online application on our website, www.softplacetoland.org and we ask each interested party to fill out an application on the dog (s) they are interested in meeting. We prefer to adopt our dogs out locally, generally within 2 hours, one way, of our home base of Ft. Collins Colorado. We do allow out of area adoptions in special circumstances but we do have additional requirements for out of area adoptions.

Additional adoption info

Step 1: Fill out an adoption application.
http://www.softplacetoland.org/dog-adoption-application/
Step 2: Someone from A Soft Place To Land will contact you to set up a home visit and interview. After the home visit applicants and the rescue can take up to 24 hours to decide if the dog is the right fit.
Step 3: When approved, sign adoption contract and pay adoption fees.

Adoption fees vary from dog to dog, but are roughly as follows:
Dogs under 6 months of age - $300 - $350
Dog from 6 months to 1 years - $250 - $300
Dogs 1 year to 7 years - $150 - $250
Dogs over 7 years - $100 - $150
