We are a small rural city funded shelter. We provide animal control services and safe shelter for lost or unwanted animals in Rush County. We are allotted a budget to support a "pound" and not a modern shelter and animal control department. We depend heavily on monetary donations and adoption fees to provide preventative vet care, such as vaccines and spay/neuter, to all the animals that enter our shelter.

Adoption fees reflect the cost to us to provide the benefits of preventative veterinarian care that would otherwise cost adopters substantially more if done on their own. We depend on our adoption fees in addition to monetary donations to provide the same beneficial care for the next animal coming in.
