Pancake Hollow Farm and Rescue Inc. operates on a small family farm. Our operation is incorporated as not for profit for the purposes of the humane treatment of animals. We are a family friendly rescue. We do not have an age requirement for children in the adoptive family home. It is our opinion that when children are taught correctly through example and a nurturing environment, that children will develop a sense of responsibility and a caring nature when growing up with a beloved furry family member.
Our mission includes the following:
1) Our rescue and transport team saves puppies and unwanted mama dogs from locales that have an 85% euthanization rate or greater for unwanted animals due to severe overpopulation. We strive to rescue pups before they are surrendered to the pounds in order to try to avoid exposure to illness. We have a network of veterinarians and people who love animals in these areas who will contact us when a euthanization situation is imminent.
2) To promote the spay /neuter of animals. To provide information and assistance to people with unwanted pups in southern states and and encourage others to spay/neuter their pets during outreaches.
3)To provide an educational program for children that participate in Girl Scouts, 4-H and other local clubs.
The programs contents are geared toward teaching about responsible pet ownership, basic care and to inform the community of the reasons why the spay/neuter of animals is a kind and responsible act. The spay/neuter of animals is thought to be cruel by some. However spayed/neutered domestic animals are at a lessor risk from certain cancers and other health/behavior issues. Spaying/neutering also helps stop the vicious cycle of overpopulation, neglect and ultimately the euthanization of loving animals. Because we are a small organization most of the work is done by members of our family and a handful of great volunteers.Right now the rescue team consists of Andrew, Beth and their 3 years old son Daniel. Our first rescue involved all of our children, Beth's Boys- Brendan (19), Sean (16), Andy's boys- John (16), Michael (14 ) our baby Daniel (3) and Beths Parents Carol and Jim. We look forward to setting out on more rescue missions with all the boys. They have a huge amount of compassion for the little guys and caringly help bath, remove ticks and adminster wormer and vitamins. We are very proud of our boys!
Birdie is our head volunteer and covers pre screening and secretarial assistance. She has been a blessing to us.Our board of directors is a small but growing group of dog loving people, most have adopted from our rescue.
We have special people on hand and ready to work wth the pups so that they are well socialized and can begin to trust again. We are a new rescue and are actively seeking more people to join our team.
We are in need of donations for our veterinary fund which is for medications and urgent needs. Our wonderful vets at Gardiner Animal hospital provide low cost exams and medical treatment. However when first rescued, some puppies need extensive treatment and/or medication. The costs of the medication alone can be overwhelming. We also need funds for all other costs involved. Our operation has transportation costs, utility costs for our Kennel -we keep the temperature at 68 Degrees year round ( the rescues are babies and need to be warm), educational material and office supply costs. In addition we have daily operational needs such as food, blankets, cleaning products. This spring we hope to begin construction of our new permanent, comfortable barn/kennel that will have larger runs and a training area! We have so many thing we would love to do with the rescue and any help you can give would be greatly appreciated including gas cards, Tractor supply, Home depot, Lowes gift card and of course donations of Money. We are working with our accountant to obtain our 501(c)(3) and your donations ARE tax deductable. We have committed our live to saving lives and helping others. Every Mission further enforces that this is what we were put on earth to do. Seeing scared, filthy, starving puppies change before our eyes into fat, happy little kissing machines, touches our hearts more than words can express.

We primarily adopt our Furbabies out to people in the Mid Hudson area of NY state to include Ulster, Dutchess,Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester Counties. However, people from all areas are welcome to visit us at the farm. We have not participated in long distance adoptions as we have not yet developed an out of area application and transport system at this time.
Additional adoption info
ADULT FEE of $60.00 for Mama and other adult dogs for spay neuter certificates plus there medical expenses. WE are starting a sponsership program so that we can hopefully cap the fees for adult dogs at $100.00. Our puppies have an adoption fee ranging from $190 -$290.00 We wish we could do this for less. However these are Rescues! They come to you after veterinary care, shots, wormer, transport etc etc etc. We hold all puppies for a minimum of 2 weeks in order to monitor them for health problems.
It is our policy for the adoptive parent to meet the puppy to see how the puppy and person or family appear to bond. At the farm we provide a warm enviroment for people wishing to adopt and our adoption process is pleasant. We have a short pre screening of potential adopters over the phone and verify as much info as possible prior to the day of appointment at our farm. We have an application process and Terms of Adoption paperwork that must be signed as a legal agreement between the Pancake Hollow Farm and Rescue Inc. and the adoptive parents. The Terms of Adoption include the requirement to spay/neuter adopted pups and a guarantee that if there ever is a time that the animal needs to be rehomed or that the adoption has not worked out, that the animal be surrendered back to our facility. Our puppies are often too young to spay/neuter when adopted out of our rescue. We reserve the right to charge a higher fee for purebreds and uniques on the rare occasion that we have them. The higher fee helps us with vet bills and overhead.
