WildRescue, Inc./Rabbit Rescue a 501(c)3 pending non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue and rehoming of abandoned and abused domestic rabbits.
Rabbits are bred for everything – from research to a child’s delight at Easter time. Many rabbits are surrendered at local DFW animal shelters each year. The majority of those surrendered are Easter gifts that have lost the family’s interest or because the rabbit has now matured and shows unwanted behavior (which can be solved by spaying/neutering).
The good news is that rabbits are mesmerizing companions that amaze any human willing to get nose-to-nose and discover what a rabbit is really willing to give: unconditional love, complete joy, and boundless hours of companionship. Rabbits are intelligent; Just because they do not vocalize as cats and dogs do does not mean that they are “dumb.”
So why adopt a rabbit? Because they are worthy. They need homes. They need love and companionship just like we do. Rabbits suffer so much at the hand of man – why not return that hand in another way by opening your life to a rabbit as a companion animal? Fill your life with softness, “binkies”, and sleepy-eyed love.
Adopt a rabbit. They need you.

Additional adoption info
If you’ve come to us to inquire about adopting a rabbit, we know that you are serious about making this commitment and we will help you find the perfect rabbit companion for your family.
Our adoption process is quite simple. One of our adoption counselors will sit down with you and help you decide if a rabbit would be a good fit for your home. Proper diet, easy litter training, health care, and other important issues will be discussed to help you arrive at a final decision.
We encourage you to house your rabbit indoors and provide an area outdoors where your rabbit can have supervised playtime - this is essential to their health.
The fee for adopting a rabbit is only $90, which covers the cost of their spay/neuter and a physical examination for your rabbit. If you would like to make a further donation, it would help defer the cost of pre- and post-operative care (pain medications and fluids).
There are many different breeds of rabbits with varying temperments. They range in size from majestic New Zealands and loving Californians (10 lbs and up) to tiny Netherland Dwarfs (2-4 lbs). The most common colors of rabbits are white and black. Spotted coats, harlequin, banded (Dutch), fuzzy; our rabbits come in these and many more varieties. Each rabbit is unique and beautiful in its own right, and worthy of becoming your new companion.
When you adopt a rabbit from Rabbit Rescue, your rabbit comes to you already either spayed or neutered. “Fixing” your rabbit is a responsible practice and results in a calmer, more affectionate companion. This also will help eliminate inappropriate hormonally-driven behaviors such as chewing, nesting, urine spraying and mounting. Rabbits do not receive yearly vaccinations, but we do recommend a yearly check-up.
Rabbits should be given outside playtime to help with absorption of essential vitamins, and to give them fresh, natural foods (your grass and weeds) to munch on. While outside they will file down their nails and teeth naturally just doing what bunnies do, which means they will have fewer problems with excessively long nails or overgrown teeth.
If you are confused or just curious about what kind of habitat we suggest for an indoor enclosure for your rabbit, please ask us! We can help you put together a kit that will give your rabbit a great place to stay, and that won’t hurt your wallet.
Contact us if you feel you are ready to adopt a rabbit into your home. We would love to help you find your perfect companion!
