Clinton Animal Shelter is operated by volunteers which formed and adopted the name of C.A.R.E.Our volunteers operate the daily operations of Clinton Animal Shelter, which is located at 1307 North Washington Street, Clinton, Missouri 64735. C.A.R.E. volunteers began organizing in October of 2007, to begin discussions about improving conditions at the animal shelter and possible control of shelter operations. The operation of the shelter with C.A.R.E. volunteers began December 4, 2007, with the cooperation of the City of Clinton until March 1st, 2008, when complete charge was given to the organization through a lease contract.
The volunteers of C.A.R.E. began organizing with five priorities in mind to keep in focus. Those five priorities are 1) To preserve the life of as many companion animals as possible, 2) To provide temporary shelter for homeless companion animals, and place these animals in suitable permanent homes, 3) To reduce companion animal overpopulation, 4) To provide education and outreach activities regarding companion animal care to the community, 5) To generate the funds necessary to maintain a quality shelter facility and operation. The mission statement established is that "The mission of CARE is to prevent abuse, promote adoption, and educate the public in the proper and ethical care and treatment of companion animals."
