PAWS was established to fill a need for an alternative animal shelter, improved animal care, and greater awareness of animal issues in Carteret County, North Carolina. PAWS will bring new focus to adoption, spaying and neutering, and community education and participation. PAWS is a membership organization, open to all, and responsive to the needs of animals and the community.
PAWS partners with Carteret County Emergency Services & County Animal Control to provide a Pet Friendly Hurricane Shelter for Carteret County.
PAWS has partnered with the Boys & Girls Club of Coastal Carolina and other civic organizations providing fun, educational pet care clinics.
PAWS rescues, vets, and saves pets regularly.
PAWS offers an adoption program where all pets placed are spayed, neutered and healthy.
PAWS administers the Dr. Kirk Budd Memorial Grant Fund. Grants funded include Daisy, a dog born without front legs who received a wheeled cart to become mobile, and many more.
PAWS has an annual free testing clinic for FeLV/FIV/HW.
PAWS dedicated volunteers operate a thriving thrift store at 5243 Highway 70 West, Morehead City where your donated items are turned into cash to help the animals.

Dog Adoption Fee $75, Cat & Small Animal Adoption Fee $40. Preliminary adoption application required as all animals are in Foster care at this time. Our business is operated by volunteers so please be patient with the call back process. We want to help you and the animals!
