Rescue FAQs

We are a group of committed volunteers who offer temporary foster homes to animals in need. We operate throughout New England and serve mostly dogs and puppies.

Please note: WE DO NOT HAVE A PHYSICAL SHELTER.

Our animals are in foster homes throughout Vermont, Connecticut, and New Hampshire. Appointments are necessary to meet the animals.

Additional adoption info

In order to continue to rescue and re-home all the dogs and puppies that our rescue saves, we need to charge an adoption fee. If you wish to participate in rescuing a dog, please try to understand why we need to charge an adoption fee. Our adoption fee is $400. We are a non-profit organization dependent upon these fees and any donations in order to continue our rescue efforts. The adoption fee includes transportation and veterinarian fees.

Our application is located on the pet profile page.

WRAR does screen all potential adopters. This means that an application must be submitted for review and a phone interview with the Rescue Director. Both of these requirements must happen before a visit with any of our dogs.

Let's be honest!
We are all busy. Rescue people are VERY busy with this in mind, also understand that your email inquiry is one out of a dozen other inquiries. So in the spirit of friendly customer service keep the following in mind for any inquiry to any rescue:
A question such as: "Could I have more information about (insert dog name here)? Is vague and confounding. "Information" for one person is not the same "information" to someone else.
"Is the puppy housebroken?" Really? If you ask this question please realize that your email is immediately deleted.
"Is the puppy good with kids?" The question should be "Are your children good with puppies?" Humans are responsible for dog behavior. Puppies are not responsible for their behavior. Parents are responsible for their children's behavior around puppies.
