Kansas City Doberman Rescue, Inc. is a not for profit organization of volunteers who rescue Doberman Pinschers from area shelters, unclaimed strays, and owner turn-ins. We evaluate the dogs' health and temperament and place the dogs with new adoptive families.
We are a group of volunteers who love dogs, but especially Dobermans! We volunteer during the times we have free from our jobs, our families, our hobbies and we make the time due to our love of Doberman Breed.
Within our group we have a team of folks who 'manage' the day to day operations. In their "executive" roles, they keep the core volunteers connected to potential adopters and ensure that our dogs are safe, transported, added to the website, trained, properly fostered, taken care of medically and SO much more.
All of our volunteers are dedicated to each Doberman's well-being and their new life with their new DoberFamily! We provide a Quarterly Newsletter for everyone involved in our organization (available via our website), and love to hear from our "Dobermans" themselves. Through Yahoo groups we are in contact daily with updates and communications regarding these wonderful rescued Doberkids and their new and "old" families!

KC Doberman Rescue serves the Kansas City Metro area -- the region that comprises Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas City, Kansas.
We are a regional group that serves rural Missouri and rural Kansas areas as well.
If a Doberman is in need, we will do what it takes to assist and can also help with contacting other regional Doberman groups if they are closer to you.
Additional adoption info
Our adoption fees vary. Many of our dogs require extra medical care, (not just a spay/neuter/vaccination) prior to becoming adopted. As such, we do not have a "set" fee for adopters.
All incoming Dobermans are tested for heartworm disease and started on preventative medicine. If necessary, they are spayed or neutered and brought up to date with vaccinations. Our dogs live "in home" in foster care until a suitable placement in a permanent home is found.
A home visit is required for potential adopters after the submission of their application. All adopted Doberkids must be "inside dogs" and we require fenced yards. While some exceptions are granted on fences, as underground fences are required in some areas; we do NOT make any exceptions to the "indoor only" policy. Our Doberkids are fostered in homes with a crate and have proper crate training prior to their adoption. Crates may be required or recommended by the group prior to the adoption of certain Dobermans. ALL puppies and young Doberkids will need a crate for their safety and your peace of mind. A crated Doberkid is a safe and happy Doberkid when you are not at home and during times of change or stress. All dogs like to have a safe haven and we've found that crates provide this environment.
KCDR provides a contracted adoption process as do all Rescues, Shelters, et al. A contract with KCDR is required and we will ensure you are comfortable with the terms. One of the items you will be signing to indicates that if you cannot keep the Doberman for any and all reasons; the Doberman is returned to us. Upon signing the contract we are both committed: you to your Doberman, and KCDR -- who is committed to assisting you.
All Dobermans will be adopted to you with a Prong Collar. They are safer than "choke chains" and will keep your Doberman safe during walks, and during other "outing" times. Note that choke chains can damage certain dogs more than others. Dobermans and other breeds with elongated necks are especially susceptible to damage when a choke chain is pulled taut or used incorrectly. Tips may be bought for the Prong collars and are available at Petsmart and PetCo.
These are few things we will work with you and your family on to ensure a successful adoption!!
