We are a small group of individuals committed to the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of German Shepherd Dogs. We are motivated solely by our passion and concern for our breed and are entirely volunteer based.
We are an incorporated non profit 501c3; donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.
We provide all necessary medical care for the dogs in our program regardless of a dog's needs and rely entirely on charitable donations.
All dogs are hands-on evaluated and evaluations are ongoing. Our dogs are fostered in private homes
for a period prior to adoption so that we can get to know them and any issues they might have.
SWGSR provides socialization and training classes in addition to trainer referrals.
We are happy to address questions about German Shepherds and strive to ensure that this is the right breed for all potential adopters.
While we feel that ours is an exceptional breed, we also recognize that they are not a good fit for some. Education is a key component of our program; we welcome questions about these versatile fur kids.

Additional adoption info
Our primary objective with respect to the adoption process is to best match dog and owner. An initial telephone interview is required prior to meeting a dog. We require introductions to all family members as well all other pets in addition to a home visit.
Our dogs are placed only as indoor members of the family. Adoption fees vary; there is no set fee. In the case of senior or some special needs dogs there often is no fee, rather, a free-will donation.
In some cases adoption fees can exceed $300.00.
All adoptions are under contract and all dogs are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped prior to placement.
