Shelter FAQs

The City of Weatherford-Parker County Animal Shelter is a joint venture between the City of Weatherford, the City of Hudson Oaks, Springtown, Aledo, Willow Park and Unincorporated Parker County. Because we take in nearly 6,000 animals a year, our space fills up quickly. We have 102 dog kennels, a cat room with several kitty kennels, and additional cages for cats being evaluated prior to being placed for adoption. You are welcome to visit us to see all of the adoptable animals.

Additional adoption info

You must be 18 years of age or older to adopt an animal. Our adoption fee is $100 for female dogs, $90 for male dogs and $50 for cats. The fee includes spay or neuter of the animal; plus rabies, parvo, and distemper vaccinations (for dogs), feline distemper vaccinations (for cats). It also includes micro-chipping. All you need is your state issued identification card to begin! What a GREAT deal for a new best friend!!

◦Please do not be discouraged if you see an animal on the website and learn that he/she has already been adopted. We are happy that he/she found a new home! There may be another one you will like just as much!
◦We are unable to guarantee that specific animals shown will still be available. We make every effort to update our adoption page Tuesday - Saturday before we leave each day.
◦Please remember new animals become available for adoption everyday so please visit regularly until you find your perfect pet!
