Their scope of duties fall under Chapter 6 of the City of Denton Code of Ordinances as well as various Chapters of the Health and Safety Code. Services are available 24 hours a day with an on-call officer available for dispatch for emergency calls outside our normal working hours.

We serve the city of Denton with animal needs. Our shelter houses animals for Corinth, Roanake, Krum, and Denton County.
Additional adoption info
All animals adopted from Animal Services are spayed or neutered. The animals in the adoption area have already recovered from this surgery and are ready to go home with their new families.
The fee for adopting a dog or a cat is $60. This fee includes: Spay/Neuter for the animal, some pre-surgery testing, species specific vaccinations, micro-chip with registration, and a rabies shot. For animals adopted by Denton residents, the City registration is waived. There are some animals that have an adoption subsidy attached to them, which will lower the adoption price. These animals usually have special needs of some sort and can make wonderful companions.
When you come to the shelter to see about adopting a new companion, we recommend that you already have prepared your home. Preparation should include getting food, food bowls, leash and collar, toys, litter box for cats and a tag with your name and phone number. By having these items already purchased, there will be no need to stop on the way home so you can enjoy your new friend that much earlier.
