Adopt a companion is a small foster home based rescue. We assist in providing safe loving homes to animals that would otherwise be put to sleep in a shelter, or continue living in abusive or neglectful situations without our help. The pet over population is a huge problem across the United States. Our mission is to rehome adoptable pets in addition to educating the public on the importance of spaying/neutering their pets. The only way to stop the killing is to stop unwanted animals from being born, spay or neuter your pet!

We serve Michigan and surrounding states. However, we will only allow an out of state adoption if we can contact a rescue organization in your area that is willing to complete a home visit on our behalf.

Adoption Process
In order to adopt an animal from our organization you must be willing to fill out our adoption application, and provide vet /personal references. To fill out our application online you can visit www.adoptacompanion.com/forms. Once we receive your application a volunteer will review it and contact you. We will answer any questions you may have about the animal you have applied for and schedule a meet and greet for you to meet the animal. You may visit the animal at his/her foster home. If you are still interested in adopting the animal after the meet him/her we will schedule a home visit in which a volunteer will visit your home just to make sure everything that was stated on your application is accurate. After the home visit is complete & approved you can move forward in adopting your new companion by signing an adoption contract, and agreeing to all terms listed in the contract. This process is very fast! We do our best to have your new companion in his/her FUREVER home within 72 hours from the time we receive your application. Please realize that we are not trying to violate your privacy, we are just making sure that the animals we save are going to safe, loving homes. Many of the animals we rescue come from Kill shelters or abuse/neglect situations. It is our priority to make sure these animals never get stuck in a bad situation again.
Adoption Fees
All of our animals are seen by our veterinarian. When the animals come into our organization we make sure that they are brought up to healthy standards. We provide basic health care for every animal. All animals must be spayed or neutered BEFORE begin adopted. This rule does not apply to puppies under the age of 6 months. However, the adopter will be REQUIRED to have the puppy altered by its 6 month birthday (no exceptions)! Our adoption fee is a standard flat rate for most animals. If an animal comes to us in need of extra medical attention, we will provide it but that animal’s adoption fee may be increased to help absorb some of the expense. Our organization is solely funded by adoption fees, without them we would not be able to save these loving animals from certain death. The adoption fee for each animal is listed in that animal’s bio.
