With locations in Manhattan, Westhampton and Wantagh, Bideawee was founded in 1903 by Mrs. Flora D'Auby Jenkins Kibbe. Bideawee, which means "stay awhile" in Scottish, is one of the oldest humane organizations in the United States.

Additional adoption info

Please bring the following to your adoption appointment:

Photo ID with current address AND a copy of their utility bill with their current address.

Proof in Writing that Pets Are Welcome in the Building. This can be in the form of a lease, a letter from the landlord, or an email from the landlord.

Adopting a dog? Adopters must bring a leash, collar and harness.

Adopting a cat? Adopters must bring a sturdy, non-cardboard pet carrier. (Bedding optional but helpful)
