We have been rescuing dogs since May of 2003 and average placing 100 dogs into new loving homes each year. All dogs are complete in vet work before going to new homes. Our rescue is run out of our home, so each dog has the opportunity to be socialized not only with other dogs, but with adults and our grandchildren. Each dog has his/her own personality, and we strive to select families whose lifestye and personalities will parallel our precious canines. Although we work "real jobs" to make a living, our dogs are our passion, and they are a very big part of our lives. Our dogs come to us from various sources: puppy mills, abuse cases, owner turn ins, strays, starved, ferrel, dump offs, and various shelters and vet clinics. We have a special soft spot for the frightened, and abused, and find ourselves taking in more than we actually should at the time, but their saddened eyes win us over every time.
We've received recognition from several local newspapers, and Becky's Kountry Kitchen in Blissfield donates a $10 gift certificate with each dog adoption.
We give discounts to senior citizens. Because Connie worked as a volunteer EMT/firefighter for 25 years, she has a special soft spot for public servants; therefore, Ambulance personnel, firefighters, and police officers also receive a discount. .
We have a senior to senior program that allows a senior citizen to adopt a senior dog at a fee they feel they can afford. (All discounts will be giving upon proof of any of the above)
Each dog adopted will be sent with all his/her records; a few instructional guides, and a training DVD to help you develop your new dog into a well behaved family member.
We receive no funding, so we are grateful for any donations of bedding, heartworm preventatives, flea/tick preventions, collars, leashes, food, medications, shampoos, toys, treats, grooming items, cash, and donations to our account at Kelly's Vet Clinic.
We have Caring 4 Canines tee shirts that can be ordered for $12 to help us promote the rescue.

We are located in Lenawee County just south of Adrian.
We do adopt outside of the county and state, however, we do not ship dogs. Some of our dogs have even been adopted to families as far as Arizona, Canada, and even Germany! We do take in owner release dogs, however, we are restricted as to no pit bulls or pit bull mixes (township regulation) and we try to stay within our own county for these.
Additional adoption info
Our adoption fees vary and range from the "special fees" to $250 depending on the dogs. The majority of the fees are between $150 and $200. We have an application we will send by emailing us. This is reviewed and vet checks made if a vet is currently used. We will at times request a home visit to make sure your home meets the requirements for dogs that have special needs or habits. Upon acception of the application, an appointment can be made to meet the dog of your choice. At that meeting, if the dog and family both seem to be a good fit, the dog can leave with the family that day. We have a 14 day full refund if the dog just doesn't seem to adjust, or the family finds that they cannot provide for the dog as promised. If you cannot keep the dog, he or she must be returned to us.
We do at times have trouble with our computer, so please, if we don't respond to your email within 24 hours, try to contact us again. We strive to be courteous by answering promptly. And please remember, before adopting a dog, read about the breed or the mixes in a breed. All dogs have traits common to their own breed, such as howling, digging, running, etc. Make sure you are prepared to accept this when you accept the beautiful little face. Also keep in mind that older dogs make wonderful pets and ca contribute tremendously to a family's happiness.
