The Tangipahoa Parish Animal Control Department includes a government supported animal shelter. The department is operated through the Tangipahoa Parish Government. The department enforces local ordinances and state laws pertaining to animals (dogs and cats) and protects the health and safety of both animals and people through the enforcement of laws regarding rabies control, dangerous animals, nuisance animals and cruelty to animals. Jurisdiction is the entirety of Tangipahoa Parish.
The department provides education to the public regarding humane responsible animal care, shelters animals that are stray or unwanted, provides for the responsible placement of animals for adoption, assists owners in finding missing pets, and furnishes humane euthanasia for animals which are unwanted, ill, injured or vicious.

Visit our shelter to adopt. To adopt you must be at least 18 years of age, have current identification showing your age & current address, pay an adoption fee, agree to and sign our adoption contract. Tangipahoa Parish Animal Control has the right to deny any adoption.
