This shelter was started by retired schoolteachers who tired of seeing packs of homeless dogs running the streets. Malnourished, mangy and miserable animals tore at their hearts. We are a 501(c) nonprofit shelter totally run by volunteers. We have a program that allows prison inmates to work with the animals. It great for both the dogs and the inmate. We have fosters who work with us to rehabilitate dogs that were near death when we found them. Our mission is: "To rescue and provide shelter, care, and rehabilitation for dogs in distress for the purpose of finding them permanent suitable homes."

.We treat these dogs like they are our children. Many were previously abandoned, neglected or abused. We make sure the potential adopter knows the dog's history. We let them know if we think there may be any issues to address, and make sure they are willing to do so. We make followup visits.
