SAVES(Spay, Alter, Vaccinate every Stray) is a volunteer humane organization with roots firmly established on Eastern Long Island.
SAVES was incorporated in 1996 as a 501-c-3 not-for-profit corporation to address the needs of homeless cats and their caretakers.
SAVES promotes Trap-Neuter_Return(TNR) of felines as well as spaying and neutering of companion animals. TNR is the only effective and humane solution for feral/stray feline overpopulation. TNR is a nonlethal method whereby stray or feral cats are humanely trapped, evaluated, vaccinated and sterilized. Kittens and tame cats are adopted into good homes and the healthy feral cats are returned to the familiar habitats under the lifelong care of dedicated volunteers. TNR has not only prevented the birth of thousands of feral kittens, but has improved the quality of lives of the altered felines. To access more detailed information about TNR visit alleycat.alliesorg.

Additional adoption info
We use an application/contract process to screen potential applicants. If the applicant is approved for adoption we request a $125 adoption donation for kittens ($225 for a pair) and $100 for adults 1+.
We ask that the animal will be returned to SAVES and not given away or taken to a shelter if the adopter cannot keep it.
