Blue Ridge Dog Rescue is an all-volunteer, non-profit, non-euthanizing rescue based in Charlottesville, VA. We provide a safe haven for our homeless pets while they are awaiting a permanent home. They are mostly young adults, but occassionally we'll have a senior that needs a retirement home! They are saved from high-kill shelters/pounds or from owner give-up situations. While in our care, they receive a health checkup, spay/neuter, all shots, de-worming and heartworm/tick disease testing. Please check our Pets List, and contact us for a personal meeting. If you don't see exactly what you are looking for, please email us and we'll help you find that perfect pet. If you can't adopt at this time, please consider volunteering with us or sponsoring an animal.
Please note: We are busy folks and don't have "regular business hours". For this reason, we don't show the dogs until an application has been submitted. Submitting an application does not obligate you to adopt a dog, but it does tell us that your interest in adopting an animal is serious. We thank you for being considerate of our time and efforts.
We do rescue cats/kittens when the need arises, but this is not our primary function. Please contact the regular Cat Rescue groups in your area for help.
Create an alert, and we'll notify you every time a new pet comes in who meets your criteria.

We conduct personal interviews and require adoption applications. Home visits are conducted, and references are checked. Adoption fees are $150 for dogs, and $75 for cats. All fees are used to defray the costs of vetting and caring for our animals.
