Animal Rescue League of El Paso- No Kill

Animal rescue in Canutillo, TX

Animal Rescue League of El Paso is a No Kill Rescue Organization founded in 1995. We are one of the largest and oldest No Kill Shelters in West Texas and Southern New Mexico. All animals are spayed or neutured prior to adoption , are microchipped and have received age appropriate shots. They are also tested for heartworm ,erlichea, lyme disease and feline leukemia (cats). If an animal comes into our shelter with medical needs, they are treated immediately. Sometimes it's as simple as treating kennel cough or it could be a a life saving surgery.

Our mission is to serve stray, abandoned, orphaned, abused and injured companion animals by providing medical care and shelter in times of need, locating lifelong homes, and promoting responsible pet guardianship through education, legislation and sterilization. We do not accept home owned animals. We believe in our mission which is to provide a second chance at life for those companion animals that have no where else to turn.

Animal Rescue League of El Paso is a private, volunteer-based, non-profit organization with 501(c)(3) status. We receive no government funding and are not a United Way agency. Our life-saving work is supported solely by the loving contributions of individual donors and small foundation grants.

Founded in 1995, ARL rescues, rehabilitates and places approximately 1,600 dogs, cats, kittens and puppies a year. Generally, the animals with which we work have been found running stray in the desert or by the side of the road often injured, found in dumpsters and trashcans, turned in by veterinarians, referred to us by local law enforcement, or rescued from euthanasia from a local shelter. Many have been abused. All animals receive any medical care that is required from kennel cough to surgery. In addition to our adoption services, we also have many other programs;

Rescue Services
Crisis Response & Sheltering
Adoptions & Placements
Orphan Animal Program
Animal Abuse Education
Rehabilitation and Medical Care
Last Litter Program

In September 1998, we were able to open our own shelter facility in Canutillo which houses dogs and puppies , cats and kittens while they await their new homes. A safe environment is provided for rescued mothers about to give birth and their newborn litters.
