P.A.K.S. People Assisting Kindred Spirits is a not for profit corporation in the process of obtaining our federal nonprofit status (501c3). We are a group of friends that came together in 2003 to remove dogs from a bad situation. We rescued four dogs on our first day and since that time have been involved in the rescue and placement of over 700 domestic companion animals. With each animal brought into our system, we first medically and psychologically evaluate the animal. They are then treated for any medical conditions, spayed/neutered brought current on vaccinations and microchipped prior to adoption. Our companion animals spend time in a guardian foster home before placement to assure we have adequately assessed their personality traits, so that we may make the best match between the animal and their new adoptive family. We do not place aggressive dogs/cats or any animals that are deemed unadoptable by one of our veterinarians. Our goal is to stop the cycle of abandonment and abuse. People Assisting Kindred Spirits also guarantees the placement...if the pet does not fit well into it's new home, we will refund adoption fees for up to 14 days... after that time period we will still rehome the pet, but the refund is reduced.

Additional adoption info
An adoption application and interview are required. We also ask for a vet reference. The adoption fee is $150.00 which covers a medical evaluation, spay/neuter, any necessary medications, vaccinations and microchipping, even though the vet fees are often much more. We depend on the kindness of our supporters to help defray some of the additional costs.
