Humane Society of Alamance County

Animal rescue in Burlington, NC

The Humane Society of Alamance County (HSAC) is a non-profit organization funded solely by donations, fundraisers and membership fees. We are a small group of dedicated volunteers working toward alleviating animal suffering and ending pet overpopulation. We have 5 main programs and receive approximately 900 phone calls per month from the public. Since restructuring in 1988, our main focus has been on spay/neuter. We believe the sterilization of companion animals is the answer to ending the tragedy of pet overpopulation. We average spaying or neutering 1000 animals per year through our low cost program. We do not have a physical shelter location but have a small network of volunteers who provide foster care in their homes. Approximately 300 animals per year come through our foster program. Other services include an education program for children, emergency medical assistance, and food assistance for qualifying families.

Our greatest needs are for foster families, volunteers to supervise dogs and cats at adoption fairs and monetary donations to help with our vet bills, our primary expense.
