We are a very small, but dedicated group of animal lovers who live in a small, predominantly ranching community in South Texas. The group was formed in October 2001 and has since incorporated and received 501(c)3 status from the IRS.
We initially worked with the city pound, housing up to 8 dogs and 6 cats at that facility after their waiting period was up. In June,2007, the pound shut down to make needed renovations. We have decided that we will break the tie with the City, no longer housing our animals at the pound. We will take animals from there.
We currently have 3 foster homes - all overflowing. We have been successful in saving many dogs - with the support of larger city no-kill shelters who take our smaller dogs. Since the opening of PetSmart 30 miles away, our cat adoption, the survival rate for cats has increased greatly.
We all love pets and although we often struggle, caring for the animals, trying to find good forever homes and making ends meet(we are supported by donations only), when we find that great home for one of our rescues, we remember why we struggle and it all seems worthwhile.
We believe that there is hope for no more homeless pets and that we must educate - especially the younger generations. We have dreams of having our own shelter - a no-kill facility We hope that some day we all have to find another volunteer cause - beause there will be no more homeless pets to rescue.
We are always in need of volunteers! We are looking for charitable grant writers, web masters, fund-raisers and more. We don't require that all volunteers scoop poop. And we greatly appreciate all help.
