Recycled Canines Dalmatian Rescue is officially an IRS 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We are dedicated to saving the lives of the many homeless Dalmatians around Houston, Texas. However, we usually have a few canines without spots as well. Our mission is to take dogs from shelters, as strays, or from owners that can no longer care for them and provide them with indoor shelter, high quality food, water, microchipping, spaying/neutering, vaccinations, training, exercise, socialization, and lots of TLC. Once we deem the dog ready for a new home, we seek permanent homes for them with people that have filled out an application and have been screened for eligibility.
RCDR has many advantages to offer over some other rescues. Our dogs are NOT kept in kennels. They live in our foster homes, they get basic obedience, an all natural dog food that uses only fresh and whole human grade ingredients, and they are well adjusted family members with house manners. We limit our numbers so that we can get to know the personalities of the available dogs in our program. We use this to match a dog to the right family. How do we do this? We foster dogs in our homes, ourselves, and we have many volunteer foster families that also offer this service to our dogs as well.
If you would like to help out, but cannot adopt or foster, please look into the other volunteer opportunities that we have. We also have a Sponsor a Dog program where you can donate money to help a specific dog that will have high veterinary bills.
If you have found a Dalmatian or are looking for a home for your own Dalmatian please visit our Rescue Resources page. Please understand that we cannot save every Dalmatian. Dalmatians in shelters have a higher priority than others and there are ALWAYS Dalmatians in shelters. We do not have enough foster homes or money to save them all.

Additional adoption info
We are not looking to "get rid" of our dogs. We are looking for the BEST possible home for each and every one of them. Therefore, we do reserve the right to refuse to adopt a dog to any family for any reason.
If you wonder why our adoption process is so lengthy and cumbersome, just look at our website for pictures of how Martie was when she came into the rescue-Emaciated, pregnant, heartworm positive, and full of intestinal worms. At one time, her owners convinced someone that they would provide a wonderful, loving home.
Please fill out the online Application to start the adoption process at www.recycledcanines.org
Hitting the submit button will automatically e-mail us your application. We are all volunteers, so please allow us at least 24 hours to respond.
Home Visit
Recycled Canines doesn't want to judge how clean your house is, or how much money you have. We just want to make sure that you've got the space for a dog as well as a securely fenced yard. This also gives us a chance to point out things you may want to be cautious about with a new family member.
Vet Check
This is used to verify that any current or past animals are/were properly cared for, including yearly vaccinations and heartworm preventative.
Adoption Contract
The adoption contract is used to make the adoption process final.
Before adopting, please review our contract to make sure you agree with our policies.
Adoption Donation
Please remember, you are not paying for the dog. You are helping to offset some of the costs associated with spaying and neutering; heartworm testing and preventative; basic vaccines and parasite control; and shelter fees where applicable. Also, there are many dogs that come to us with problems that have expensive veterinary bills, i.e. heartworm treatment, broken legs, mange. After adoption we are always available to assist and advise our adoptive families in every way we can. If for any reason an adoption does not work out, we want the animal back. The adoption donation is $125 -$175, of course anything more is always welcome!
