Independent SoCal French Bulldog Rescue

Dog rescue in Lake Matthews, CA

Independent SoCal French Bulldog Rescue ("we", "our") started out as a sub-rescue to SoCal Bulldog Rescue (SCBR). As the rising popularity of French Bulldogs began to rise, SCBR started to receive numerous on-line surrender forms for French Bulldogs. Because I was involved in showing and raising French Bulldogs, the Directors at SCBR asked if I could find homes for these French Bulldogs, after their medical rehabilitation - paid for by SCBR. This went on for several years until the quantity of French Bulldogs needing rescue grew to a tipping point! At that time, SCBR helped me create Independent SoCal French Bulldog Rescue, Inc., along with helping me to secure a 501c3 non-profit designation.

We started rescuing French Bulldogs before our non-profit was approved and this has proved to be a very difficult period mainly because we could not use non-profit fundraising platforms and we could not receive any grants. We also did not qualify for any rescue discounts with veterinarians! We finally received our 501c3 non-profit approval on May 29, 2023.

We are dedicated to saving neglected, abused, disabled, unwanted French Bulldogs; then medically rehabilitate our rescues, finding each a forever, loving home. We do this because 25 years ago, I was diagnosed with an illness keeping me bedridden for nearly half of every day, plus limiting the part of the day I could get out of bed, my only committed companions were my French Bulldogs and my Bulldogs.

I owe these souls for their unconditional love and the uncompromising support they provided me every single day, then and now.

Additional adoption info

Adoptiom follow-up is done after the first week, after the first month, and continuing updates requested, if the adopter doesn't already do so (which almost all do!). Ind. SoCal French Bulldog Rescue does not provide an on-line application. We do this to keep underage (<18 yrs of age) from sending in applications, as well as, keeping people who are already on our watch list from sending in applications. This provides us an extra layer of security to the top end of our adoption process.
