Jax Spot Rescue was created to help find homes for dogs in need. My journey in rescue started with my dog, Kona, a Malinois mix and then I was further pushed into the world of rescue when I took in my Treeing Walker Coonhound, Jax. After rescuing my two dogs, I fell in love with the world of rescues and decided I wanted to become a more active participant in rescuing dogs.
So after many years of planning and learning more about what it takes to become a rescue, I founded Jax Spot Rescue. I have many years of experience working with dogs including dog daycare and boarding facilities as a manager. This is where I was able to extend my knowledge of dog behaviors and come to understand that there is no "bad dog", only misguided and misunderstood dogs. I have a strong passion to help the misunderstood dogs of the world and help them find loving homes with forever support from a rescue that understands how to work with the dog hiding behind the term "aggressive".
Let me tell you a story of my "aggressive dog" Jax. I took him in from an old daycare client. They were struggling with him and their older dog co-existing. He was starting fights with the senior dog of the house, resource guarding everything from everyone, and despised anything related to grooming. After I took him in, I was more challenged than I had ever been. Sometimes I wanted to throw in the towel and return him... but I did not. After a year of hard work, dedication, and seeking help from others, Jax became the dog I saw glimpses of in daycare, the dog I knew I loved. I understand the struggle with bringing in new dogs and I know the emotional toll it takes out of you when you bring home a new furry friend but more than that, I know how rewarding it is to see dogs come out of their shell and show you their true potential. The goal of this rescue is to provide happy endings for both the furry kids and owners.
