The mission of the Brownsville/Haywood County Animal Shelter is to protect citizens and animals by providing a safe environment for stray, surrendered, or abused animals. Having a safe haven for citizens to adopt our pets helps the community and our animals find caring homes and owners. It is our goal to have every pet adopted at our shelter.

Adoptions take place same day. We do not hold/tag animals for adopters. Of you are unsure if you would like to officially adopt the animal, you may ask about our "foster to adopt" program. Through this, you will have 5 days to test out the animal to ensure it fits the home.
