C.A.R.E. for P.E.T.S. is a 501c3 shelter intervention organization partnered with Winnebago County Animal Services in Rockford, Il. We have various initiatives to keep pets from entering this municipal shelter that has the second highest euthanasia rate in Illinois. Most are centered around education, pet owner support to promote retention and lowering the pet population through spay/neuter. However, some pets simply can’t stay with their owners so we take the ones at highest risk of entering the shelter and find them forever placement after fully meeting vet needs and assessing behavior to make the best match possible.

Additional adoption info
Our adoption process starts with an application and then proceeds to an informal conversation seeing if adoption of that pet is the best fit for that pet and that particular family. If all is well, a meet and greet with the family and existing pets is scheduled.
