From Hope to Home Animal Rescue

Cat rescue in Mahopac, NY

From Hope to Home Animal Rescue, founded in 2017, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue organization operating on a foster home model. We are based out of Mahopac, NY.

From Hope to Home is a completely donation-funded network of volunteer foster homes committed to rescuing primarily cats (and the occasional dog!) who are homeless, abandoned, neglected, or set to be euthanized From Hope to Home Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt non-profit feline rescue organization in Mahopac, NY.
We specialize primarily in rescuing, raising, and rehoming orphan neonatal (newborn) kittens. We take in kittens from a variety of backgrounds including kittens who have lost their mother for one reason or another, are homeless or abandoned, or set to be euthanized in nearby shelters. Neonatal kittens have highly compromised immune systems and require around the clock care. As a result, fun fact: kittens under 8 weeks of age are one of the most euthanized populations in the United States. Not only is a shelter an unsafe environment for kittens with such weak immune systems, most shelters don't have the resources, staffing, supplies, or training to care for such fragile bodies and young kittens require intensive care for several weeks before they're adoptable, making them a frequently unnoticed population in need of dyer help.
While we set out beginning as a general animal rescue, we quickly learned that our hearts were set on helping the weakest group in need knowing there are so few other rescues who only help orphan neonates. Being the one to step up for such fragile lives at such a critical time can be the difference between their lives ending that day versus living a healthy, happy, 20 years of life.
Through our comprehensive adoption process, we seek to ensure all of our adoptable kittens grow up and enter into safe, loving, and permanent homes.in nearby shelters. All of our rescued cats are placed in safe temporary homes clear from euthanasia in order to provide veterinary care, behavioral evaluations, and to smoothly transition them into a home environment while seeking to place them with adoptive families. We specialize primarily in rescuing, raising, and rehoming neonatal newborn kittens, but do rescue adult and senior cats as well. Our mission would not be possible without the generous selfless approved foster families willing to temporarily open their homes. There are literally millions of animals being killed in shelters every year due to not only overpopulation, but also by being too quickly deemed as "unadoptable" without even being given the chance at adoption. With more foster homes available, we’re able not only to save a life while they await their permanent home, but to open a space in the shelter so that another pet is given the same chance. Through our comprehensive adoption process, we seek to ensure all of our adoptable pets end up in safe, loving, and permanent homes.
