PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET BANJO….and he will bring a song to your heart! This youngin’ is a 15 lb, cream w/ silver tips, under 2 yr old, Lhasa Bichon, as best as we can guess, is a doll! He came to us from the South Central Shelter crusted with skin, ear and eye infections…not to mention he was a filthy mess. A bath, some magical cream and antibiotics…a grooming and Banjo is ready to play music for you all the way home! Don’t let his calm appearance fool you! Banjo will surprise you with his longing to go for long walks, hikes or visits to the park. Young small dogs are NOT COUCH POTATOES! Banjo loves to play with you…and other dogs who want to play with him! While we can’t guarantee he is potty trained, we can tell you that he does not lift his leg! He will only go on a pp pad if he can’t get out…but we want him to go to a home where he will get exercised and have playdates if he doesn’t have another dog at home. We can tell you that he DOES NOT LIKE being left alone and you might just hear him singing (howling even!) if you leave him without company! Banjo is interested in toys, but his foster roommate doesn’t give him a chance to get the ball or toy first! Ideally, Banjo will have a home with a yard, maybe kids over 5 yrs old and another dog! He would be the happiest camper! He is very social and really seems to enjoy children. He would be wonderful to take to sports games, brunch or wherever he is allowed to go with you. That being said, he can be extremely active when you leash him (excited to be going)! Do you need some happy music in your heart and a cuddlebug to show you his appreciation for loving him? He’s waiting. Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, groomed, vet checked, dewormed, deflea'd and come with a leash, collar and ID If you are interested in adopting a pup from Lhasa Happy Homes, please complete the Adoption Application before calling. We will contact you once it has been reviewed. Lhasa Happy Homes will be now holding our adoption events the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month on Main Street in Santa Monica (check calendar link below for special events and directions). Our event is located at 2116 Main Street, in Santa Monica, CA. Here you will have an opportunity to interact with the dogs and see which might be a perfect fit with your household. Main Street is famous for its innovative shops and is close to the beach! Make a day of it!! Metered parking on the street and free parking on 4th and Bicknell Streets. Here you will have an opportunity to interact with the dogs and see which might be a perfect fit with your household....and do some fantastic shopping at the same time! Please do call us if you are coming to see a particular dog to make sure he/she will be at adoptions (we do not bring sick dogs to our adoption events). Please bring pictures or video of your home and yard if we have not done a home check (preferred)! Most importantly, if you have a dog, make sure you bring him or her to do a compatibility match with the dog you are interested in adopting! Don't forget to check out our Events Calendar for more information on upcoming events! See our home page for more details about our adoptions at Lhasa Happy Homes Thanks for thinking rescue and adoption and for considering saving a life. It will be the best gift you ever give yourself or your family.

Story
BANDIT, recently groomed and clipped, is a long legged Lhasa Apso, who is 6-7 years old, 17 pounds, and has been an only dog with the same family (who could not keep him), since puppyhood. Bandit's only flaw is that he is overly loyal and protective, and will take a nip out of a stranger's foot or ankle if they suddenly come too close. Lhasas are a very ancient breed and were fierce little sentinel and guard dogs for the Dalai Llama and Buddhist monasteries in Tibet. The 14th Dalai Llama sent them as gifts to the West, and they have been a favorite ever since. Bandit is neutered and vaccinated and eager to be welcomed into his new home where he can be the dedicated guardian he was meant to be. Story
Meet Bobby - The Gentle Senior Lhasa Apso. Bobby is approximately 15 years old and is currently in a foster home. His foster mom says he’s a real joy to have around. He adores his foster mom so much that he follows her around everywhere. Cuddles and belly rubs are his absolute favorite. He’s potty trained and has excellent leash manners, making him a great companion for a relaxing stroll around the neighborhood. He’s not a marathon walker but he does enjoy the fresh air. He prefers a gentle pace. He’s not a big fan of being home alone for too long so he would do best with someone that’s home a lot We’re not sure how he is with kids or other dogs so a meet and greet is a must!If you’re searching for a seasoned companion to add warmth and joy to your home, reach out to our foster coordinator at vbasfosterinfo@gmail.com so we can meet and see if we can create a cozy retirement chapter together. A medical consult will be required prior to any adoption.

Story
Buffy is a beautiful gold-colored maltese/lhasa apso mix with a cute underbite. We think she is about eight years old. She weighs 15 pounds. From Buffy's foster mom: Buffy is a sweet, playful dog who will need a little time to decompress and adjust to her new home. I believe she will thrive in a small family environment where she will have one or two adults with whom to bond. A home with a yard would be best. While fostering Becky, I noticed she lived amicably with my dogs but did not really interact with them. With my cats, it did take time for her to adjust to them. I would advise a household with one other dog. Cats might be questionable. Buffy is reliably potty-trained. When she first arrived at my home, she needed to be taken to the designated area; afterwards, she went there independently. She is a light eater and enjoys dog treats (puperoni). Buffy enjoys baths and grooming. She can be a little suspicious of strangers, so slow introductions are best. At night, she prefers to sleep on her dog bed and/or crate (with the door open). Buffy is obedient. Will wait for a command: "Let's go" to go outside the house or to another room. She understands "come" and "no." Buffy is a good watchdog; very alert. She is extremely playful and loves to play catch with a tennis ball or other dog toys. Buffy is very loving. She enjoys taking naps near her person. She will be looking for you if you're not nearby. Buffy will bring joy to her new family!
