The following is the beginning of Ben’s rescue story from his first rescuer who took him into rescue. It takes lots of work to heal the bodies that have suffered from neglect and abuse. The emotional scars that they carry are everlasting; the foster gives their hearts to the dogs in their care and the dogs forever leave an everlasting imprint of their story with the foster and their families. We are truly blessed with wonderful volunteers who carry these dogs--every step of the way. These are the stories; they are filled with love and kindness, hardship and worry. Rescue Dog Village is forever grateful for all that the foster does for our dogs.

Ben started out his life by being taken from his mother as a baby and was dumped like trash at a local shelter with his brother & sister. There are angels in the south that know the value of a dog; Ben was a very lucky pup when his rescue angel caught her attention and saw the gleam of Ben and his sister’s eyes in her car headlights on her way home as she left the 28 city pens where she volunteers. She stopped her car and anything that she had on her list to do became second, those babies needed help. The first thing she noticed was that they were scared and was untrusting of humans—can you blame them? The pups were malnourished and wormy, but no physical issues on any of them.

The shelter volunteer noticed that they were extremely hungry, it then became most important for her to get them some food but she knew that she had to trick them out of their safe haven in a culvert where they were hiding. Ben was the first one out, he was strong and fearless, as if to say I am ready to take on what is next and he ready to embrace the next chapter of his life. After lots of love by the city shelter volunteers and her rescue angel, the pups are responding with lots of licks and holding on tight to the good life they now have. Ben is a loving normal dog and is in excellent health today. He has warmed up nicely after 6 weeks of daily human contact and continues to be more and more social every day.

Ben is still a puppy and is fairly active, playful and has plenty of energy however, he is the male of the of the pack but prefers to let Betty take on the position of order. Make no mistake, he is always ready to step up and back up his sisters if he has to. He plays well with his sisters but there is no doubt that he can take on an alpha position if his new pack needs one, however, he is very easy going and laid back.

Ben has a burning desire to please everyone. He is a bit of a guardian angel himself because when he is around children he has a tendency to diminish their playfulness and become gentler and protective. He is also very sensitive and gets his feelings hurt easily when you correct him. But if you don't, he will assume that he is on his own.

He is protective, low-maintenance, kind, loyal, loving, energetic, and like his sister, very intelligent. He loves being around you and needs to know that you're okay because you are his number one priority.

The Shepherd breed / Cur’s temperament has proven to be exceptionally affectionate toward women and children. They will often not let a strange man even touch them, which makes it almost impossible for him to be stolen. He will give their life, if needed, to protect his family.

We don’t know yet how he is with cats, in the car or a crate. However, these are very trainable behaviors that most dogs need training in. The perfect home is a place with plenty of exercise and he will do well with children. They are all getting their 3rd puppy shot on 10/31/13 and will then be allowed to be with other dogs.

Ben would love a family that would love to play, hug and run with him. Rescue dogs make wonderful loving pets because they know how lucky they are to be adopted. Ben has an amazing dog inside of him and just needs a family.

If you want to be rescued by Ben and you have what it takes to be his owner and want to be the happy ending that we promised him, fill out an application right away. Ben is a wonderful dog, very sweet and gentle. We know there is a home where Ben can live the rest of his life.

If you have lots of love and time to dedicate to Ben, he will repay you with a lifetime of devotion! All our applicants must be approved and fill out an application.

About Our Rescue

These dogs deserve all of our attention, and in Rescue Dog Village, we are committed to our adopters and our dogs equally. We offer full disclosure and hope to make the best matches possible. Please know our adoption fees never cover our expenses. We rely on the generosity of our adopters and supporters to help us help the dogs.

Our rescue is ONLY in the business of offering FULL DISCLOSURE to adopters, and expects and hopes to engage your questions and concerns fully. We owe it to the dogs we rescue and all the wonderful families/adopters who might consider welcoming our charges into their hearts and home. Our dogs are waiting for that ideal forever home where they will be cherished as deserving family members. It's sad these second chances are even necessary for these dogs, but we are committed to them and will devote the time and energy to their rehoming, and not just MOVE them to save more dogs. We diligently and responsibly seek good matches as we don't want to re-home the dog again. These animals have already endured more than they should have, and through no fault of their own. It behooves us to be honest and forthright, and we appreciate the same in return from applicants. It's that winning combination of reciprocal trust and respect that allows for successful placements to be made. Happy adopters translate to happy dogs, and that's our goal!

Our rescue volunteers will be more than honored to be in touch with you directly and promptly, after receiving your application and conducting a mandatory a veterinarian check. If you have never owned a dog before, please submit your application regardless, and we will be in touch with you as soon as possible. TAKE NOTE YOU SHOULD CHECK YOUR SPAM AS SOME RESPONSES FROM US WIND UP THERE WE'VE DISCOVERED. Also, take care to contact your veterinarian to let them know a member of rescue will be inquiring about your pet history!

Thank you for respecting that we all donate our time to saving these animals, and understand we value your philanthropic and compassionate desire to help be part of the rescue team. That said, you'll understand why we are committed to the well-being of our charges and consider this veterinarian check mandatory. If you are a first-time dog owner, we will work with you every step of the way! ADVOCACY AND EDUCATION ARE AS MUCH A PART OF RESPONSIBLE RESCUE AS ADOPTION! And it takes a RESCUE VILLAGE to help the most dogs possible in a thorough manner to ensure success on all fronts, and then some! It is an awful feeling to fail a dog, and we can't continue rescue if we don't do everything we can to ensure good matches for the dogs and tender families who might adopt them. THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING.

Although we are an extremely small rescue group, we understand and respect your family's eagerness to be in touch and learn as much as you can about the dogs you are considering adopting. Our very experienced and devoted trainer will be happy to share all aspects of OUR RESCUE DOGS to determine compatibility once you've submitted your application, and another of our volunteers will explain the whole process of our rescue and answer any questions you might have as well

If you have the time and love to offer this extremely bright dog who can make you laugh for hours at his antics, PLEASE APPLY TO BE CONSIDERED FOR A RESCUE DOG VILLAGE DOG AND GIVE ONE A HOME. Our dogs deserve all that a committed family can offer. Make no mistake about it, this is one spectacular dog!

Please contact RescueDogVillage@yahoo.com and we will be happy to return your correspondence, but please submit the application now so we can have that information as a starting base for our dialogue.

THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING RESCUE AS A MEANS OF WELCOMING YOUR NEXT FOUR-LEGGED FRIEND INTO YOUR LIFE!

ALL interested adopters MUST complete an application; agree to a vet reference check, phone interview and home visit. ALL family members MUST be in attendance for home visits - no exceptions. This helps us get to know everyone in the family so that we can help find the right dog for you.
