My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi. My name is Missy! I'm a 3 year old Boxer/Plott Hound mix, judging from my pretty coat! I weigh 65 pounds.
A couple rescued me from a Florida shelter, but a lot happened among the humans, so I was sent to New Mexico to live on the ranch with my foster grandma until I could return to Florida some day.
I loved life on the ranch but the two dogs that already lived there were possessive of their territory and thought of me as an intruder. We were kept apart, but one day I jumped the high fence to play with them and there was a huge fight, those two dogs against me. I thought I was going to die for sure, but grandma drove me to the hospital in Santa Fe because she knew how much my Florida mom still loves me.
I'm healthy and back to my fun-loving self now, but I'm really sad today because I just learned that grandma can't keep me any longer. She is leaving the ranch and grandpa, and can't take me with her. My Florida mom can't take me back and Grandma says I need to find a new person to love, but I don't know how to do that.
Maybe I could be a single dog in a family with an energetic boy to love. Maybe he would throw a ball for me and chase me around a yard with a high fence or chase me across the open field! I am loyal and good at waiting patiently on my pillow for my loved ones to come home.
Recently my grandma got a new book and I am being trained in the style of Jan Fennell, the Dog Listener. I am an enthusiastic learner and I know Stay, Sit, and Come. I'm also spayed and vaccinated and ready to jump in the car to come see you.
