My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Maxwell. Maxwell is a gorgeous 1 year old, 17 pound Havanese mix. Life hasn't been very kind to Maxwell so far, but you'd never know it to meet him. He came into Southern California's highest-kill shelter as a stray, matted and covered in ticks. We scooped him up the minute he became available and gave him some much needed TLC, removing over 20 ticks from his teensy body, having his ears cleaned by our wonderful vet, and giving him a full groom. Because his beautiful, long, silky hair was so filthy and matted from complete neglect, we had to shave him down. Once the hair was gone, we discovered a large healed scar on his back, most likely from a burn. Once his hair grows back, it will be invisible! We shudder to think of what this poor boy endured before we found him!

Despite his bad luck in the past, Maxwell is as sweet and loving as they come! He is incredibly smart and learns very quickly, and has the most gorgeous and soulful big brown eyes. He loves to play with toys, and is a champion snuggler! He is very affectionate and playful, and it's been so fun for us to watch him enjoy a puppyhood that he never had!

Maxwell is great with other dogs, big and small, and fine with cats. He is completely hypoallergenic and ADORES children! He would make an excellent companion animal for almost any family who will love him forever!
