Arrival story: Taz arrived at a shelter as a stray and ended up on death row. Boy, is he ever happy to be out of there!
Approximate age / weight: 2-3 years old and approx 15lbs.
Personality: Taz is a smart, little dog that somehow ended up in a bad place. He looks like he could be a Basenji/MinPin mix. He has a beautiful red coat, white paws, and a stubby tail that wags really fast when he's happy. Taz is crate-trained, house-trained and also knows how to sit very pretty when he's waiting for a treat. Taz is also attending a training class to improve his skillz! Somewhere along the line, life wasn't good to Taz. His left front leg was broken at some point and was not set right, so it healed a little crooked. His leg has been x-rayed and the vet says it should be okay as long as he keeps his weight down. And, along with the broken leg, somehow he ended up as a stray dog in the pound - on death row in need of rescue.
Taz is is good with other dogs once he is able meet them, but he doesn't care for big dogs. He's prey driven, chasing squirrels and birds, and has not been tested with cats. A fenced yard would be best for Taz to run in. He does bark when he's outside. In the house, he loves to snuggle and would be so happy if he could sleep in bed with his new family (At his foster home, he sleeps quietly in his crate).
Forever home: Taz would do best in a home with another small dog or as the only dog. While a fence is not a requirement for adopting our dogs, ideally we think Taz would do best with a fenced yard. Taz has lots of love to give and is waiting patiently for that perfect someone to find him and take him home.

We do not have a facility; all of our dogs are fostered in private homes. To view our dogs, please check www.waggintailsdogrescue.org for the dates of our next adoption events. To meet a dog in person, please see our event calendar for the latest information. Arrangements can be made to meet our rescue dogs outside of Saturday adoption events after an approved application is submitted (the application does not imply an obligation by the applicant or by the rescue group).
Please be kind to our volunteers who have made rescue a second job that they do in their spare time after coming home from full-time jobs. E-mail inquiries will be answered much more quickly than phone inquiries; our phone number is a voice mailbox only.
Thank you for your support of rescue and your interest in a rescue dog!
