My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Missy is an 8-month-old, female, Leonberger x Saint Bernard; she already weighs 75 lbs. and still has some growing to do. Missy will be gorgeous once her fur grows back. Unfortunately, the person who rescued her felt that Missy needed to be shaved because she was dirty and matted. Dogs like Missy should never be shaved. “Don’t worry, it’ll grow back” is a myth. Well, sometimes it will but it does not always grow back evenly and it might take a long time… The undercoat will regrow, but the upper hair sometimes does not. This gives the dog a patchy, scruffy appearance. That being said Missy is an amazing, gentle, soul who spent her first months with a commercial breeder. She needs continued socialization and training. Whoever adopts Missy will also have some work to do on toilet training since Missy has never learned how that works. A home where she is not alone all day would be a necessity. Obedience training would go a long way in boosting her confidence. Missy gets along with other dogs – her best friend is Gunner.
