Here's what the humans have to say about me:
. 9/23/2016: CAPTAIN HAS BEEN RETURNED TO US BECAUSE HIS ADOPTIVE FAMILY MOVED TO A PLACE THAT DID NOT ALLOW DOGS. CAPTAIN IS ONCE AGAIN LOOKING FOR HIS FOREVER HOME! 9/3/15: CAPTAIN HAS FINALLY FOUND HIS FOREVER HOME! WE WISH CAPTAIN AND HIS NEW FAMILY THE BEST-YOU WILL BE MISSED CAPTAIN BUT WE ARE SO HAPPY FOR YOU!CAPTAIN IS PAD ( pick adoption fee) ELIGIBLE! You tell us what you want to pay based on what you feel our rescue efforts and Captain's friendship are worth to you! The vet tells us that Captain's heartworms are gone! He has been successfully treated and has also obtained his 3 year rabies tag...if only he had a family to share his good news with! We have discovered that Captain has a neat trick...if we move his food bowl out of his perceived "kitchen", he will pick it up and bring it back where he thinks it needs to go-very cute! He also does awesome with my 4 year old grandson..loves playing catch with him. He loves playing with the other dogs too! He is a sweet, loving boy who is going to make a wonderful dog for someone who can find it in their heart to adopt him! Captain is a gorgeous black and white pitbull terrier/possibly akita mix that we picked up after he was found wandering around our local flea market. After talking to several people, we discovered that he had been wandering the streets for several days. He had attached himself to a boy who was visiting the market and we believed that he might have belonged to him but after questioning him, he denied that the dog was his.We attempted to find his owner but to no avail so we are listing him for adoption. He is a very nice dog, probably around 1-2 years old and apparently had been socialized well. He has interacted with our other dogs fine but because he is not yet neutered, we have had to segregate him because one of the females here had gone into heat. He ,of course, has been a bit more vivacious with all of the hormones floating around but that will change when he is neutered. He loves people(including children) and does not mind other dogs(any size). We do not know how he is with cats. He is leash trained and does not attempt to jump out of 4 foot fencing. He is a bit stubborn and head strong at times but this is typical of the breed. He should be adopted by someone who understands this breed and how powerful they are. Although he is an easy going dog, a first time dog owner may not understand his needs or may be intimidated by his size (approx 60 pounds as of June 4th) and strength. He should always be made to respect his people and should never be allowed to become dominant. having said this, Captain will make an awesome companion for the right family. I can see him enjoying a hike or lounging around in the house with his family. He is a happy boy with a playful, fun side! Great family dog who also will give his new family a sense of security with his size. Don't pass this great dog up! His adoption fee is (you choose) and will cover his vetting and care while with us. If you are interested in adopting Captain, please fill out our adoption application and e-mail your interest!
