Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Tripp arrived on October 27th. He is one and a half years old and 40 pounds. He is tons of fun to be around. It’s all fun and love which is reflected on hs smiling face! Tripp arrived at his new foster home with some anxiety at first, in the form of a certain unsettledness but that quickly dissipated after just a few hours. He’s a sweet, gentle boy with a zest for life and fun which is evident in his joy in running and playing. He gets along beautifully with other dogs and loves to chase and be chased (my guess is he’d be the star at the dogpark!) He is respectful of those dogs who want nothing to do with him (i.e the older, resident dogs), giving them their space. He follows his foster mom around like a proverbial “puppy dog”, always looking for guidance and a reassuring pat yet not in a really needy way.
Tripp loves to be outside, not alone, but with people and/or other dogs. His nose is constantly working as though trying to find out as much about his surroundings as possible. He is completely housebroken, exhibits no food aggression (actually wags his tail if petted while eating), is very gentle when taking treats, knows sit, down, wait and come. He really looks to his human for leadership and happily follows. He is very friendly with strangers (both human and canine) and he loves nothing more than a good romping/running/playing session followed by a nap snuggled up to his human’s side.
UPDATE: 10/31/12 Tripp is a fantastic dog! He just loves everyone, including children and is so eager to please. His enthusiasm does need to be curbed when greeting people as he does jump up to greet, albeit gently, and he does pull on the leash but takes correction well. He’s just so happy and ready to go! He comes when called so he’s been allowed off leash in the woods, which he simply adores! He runs and runs, frequently looking back to be sure he hasn’t ventured too far from his person and turns on a dime when called. He does require regular exercise and the payoff is a very well mannered dog in the home. He has the run of the house and shows no signs of inappropriate chewing or messing. He is calm and very much the snuggler...he is allowed to sleep with his foster mom which he/they love...he really wants to be close to his person. He does whine when he’s first left home alone but can always be found sleeping on his bed upon returning home. Tripp would make a great agility dog and would probably learn tricks quickly. He is very athletic and can jump high; when leaves were blowing around he jumped after them, catching them in his mouth...can’t wait to blow bubbles for him, I suspect he’ll have a blast with that! Tripp is the perfect dog for someone who likes to be active outdoors but likes a mellow dog in the house. His tail wags constantly and he is very attentive to his people. He loves to go anywhere in the car; it means he gets to be with his people. This boy is wonderfully enthusiastic and his enthusiasm is contagious...he’s sure to keep you smiling! UPDATE: What an incredibly sweet, adorable dog Tripp is. A self declared “non dog” person told me even she thought he was “appealing”. He has the most expressive face and is so tuned in to the people around him, as though he wants so much to understand and please. He is so puppy like in his play yet mild mannered in the house. He has a particular love of catching things from the air like blowing leaves, falling snow or just a ball. I can’t sit down without him snuggling up next to me. He wants to be a part of the family and included in everything, especially tv/movie watching; nature and dog shows are his favorite! Tripp is a wonderful, fun, funny, sweet and lovable companion and would make a great addition to anyone who will allow him to really be a part of the family.
