My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Reba is a Viszla/Lab mix found abandoned and starving in a rural area. We estimate her date of birth to be February 2009. She has known hard times, was likely beaten by her original human, and was also hit by a car. She is a strapping, healthy girl, weighing 60 pounds, and about 28 inches tall at the shoulder. Reba is current on vaccines, spayed and heartworm negative. During rough weather, she sleeps in the garage and doesn't soil, so she has house-trained herself. (She'd love to sleep in the house, but doesn't do well with the cats and other dogs.) Reba is a muscular powerhouse who loves to run (she's been clocked at 25 mph in full stride), then jumps into the pond to cool off. She prefers to have her human to herself, and she is quite protective. She will walk on a leash when required but would not be a good candidate for dog parks, as she can be dog aggressive. Reba lives with great gusto, is extremely affectionate and will even sit on your lap if you can bear it. She would be a wonderful devoted companion for someone who is strong enough physically to handle her, has a large fenced yard or who has acreage and could let her free-range it. (Once she knows where home is, she stays close at hand.) For more information, please contact Janel Miller at dogrefuge@gmail.com.
