My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Joy is a female part yellow lab, part Pharaoh Hound blend), about four years old. She is healthy, spayed, micro-chipped and has had all her shots.

Joy is a very social doggie and does well even with large gatherings of people during parties.
She also does well with children would even let their 18-month-old crawl all over her and tug at her ears! In fact, Joy is now in a home with several little girls. But they cannot keep her anymore, so beautiful Joy is looking for another home where she can live happily for the rest of her long life.

Joy is a very intelligent dog who learns quickly. . She will sit on command and is used to having an invisible electric fence. She learned very rapidly where the boundaries are and as long as the collar battery is fresh, she stays in the back yard even in the face of great temptation to cross the line.

She is courageous, has warned her family of the presence of a snake on their property, and alerted them to large predators threatening their chickens. Joy will stand between her family and any danger she perceives.

She is very energetic and enjoys racing around the property -- she loves to play but also knows how to lie down quietly. She is loving and tries hard to please.

She does well with other dogs and would be best for a family with a fenced yard and possibly other dogs for company.

While Joy seems wonderful with adults and kids, she does not like delivery men, mailmen, etc. and must be kept away from them or she is known to nip, which is strange because where she is now, they have hospice nurses visiting frequently at all times of day and night, and Joy is friendly with the nurses and is a loving companion to her family’s elderly parents.

Joy is an amazing dog, and has been a delightful, affectionate and beloved pet. She is wonderful with children and people of all ages, but from her history, she can be aggressive if she thinks there is a threat.
