Houston is a very handsome, soulful, loyal and loving, five-year-old, 80-pound, male Akita/Saint Bernard-mix looking for a loving guardian. Houston was found near a park in Houston, Texas. He had spent three weeks waiting in an area, probably where he was abandoned by his previous caretaker. He waited loyally and sadly for three weeks for whomever it was to return for him. Since, he is good with other dogs (not cats) – his rescuer coaxed him to her car using one of her dogs. In his foster home, his best friend and playmate is a little female Beagle-mix. Houston has great house manners, is housebroken and non-destructive. He sleeps either in bed with his foster mom or on his dog bed. He hasn’t been trained in formal commands, but he’s great on leashed walks and takes treats very gently from your fingers. It may take him a little while to trust new people, but he gives his whole heart and bonds very closely with his people when given the chance. Houston is healthy, in the process of getting neutered, de-wormed, micro-chipped, up-to-date on vaccines, and heartworm-tested.
