No, Millie is not a bear. Yes, she is a 9-year-old Akita/Mastiff mix.
Yes, she is a gentle, giant teddy bear. She and her brother Bandit were
adopted years ago from the shelter and sad to say have returned because
their owner’s landlord does not allow pets. Millie is the smaller of the
two, and her body form more resembles an Akita. Both she and her brother
enjoy hugs and petting. And both are patient and calm, even when a
photographer bothered them with a flash. To give one or both of these
lovable, huggable seniors their last secure home would take an
